Puncture prevention for tubed tyres???

Depends on how much you want to spend. I've always used michelin Ultra heavy duty tubes and I've never had a puncture on my enduro bike since switching to them (had a few pinch flats before) despite running low pressures and travelling fast over rocky terrain. Another option is tyre balls. You replace the tube with individually inflatable rubber balls so even if one of them gets punctured, the "tyre" only drops by a couple of psi.
Another option is tyre seal. You fill the tube with it and it seals punctures as they happen. I've only used the last product in landrover hoops where it worked very well but adds more weight than any of the other options.

Lose the tubes :clap

The tubliss tyre system - for tubed tyres without the tubes.

Just need a 17" to try on the 800GS :D

Always use good thick rubber as worn tyres are weaker?.
Never go out in the wet, 90% of flats happen in the rain,(water lubes the nail etc)
Use good quality tubes, (enduro type).
Put a layer of polythene, next to the inner tyre as a barrier.

Good luck.

For trail riding i use ultra heavy duty tubes filled with tyre seal. If you can find the source of the puncture, and remove it, the gunk will usually seal the tyre enough to get you home.

no major expense and no fancy gimmicks.

most punctures i've picked up have been thorns, usually after a farmer has just trimmed his hedges. it's incredible what a black thorn will go through.
