Hi all,
Just back from a few days in north east spain, hired a 1200gs from Mike of motoespana.com. was a bit concerned about riding on the wrong side, but I had someone to thump me on the shoulder if I made a mistake. went up the costa brava coast road, nice, spent the night in Porta de la selva, and we were both eaten by mossies:mad: ( I'll never complain about midges again ) then headed towards Andora. Hit steady rain yesterday morning, so we headed for home. Never realised the fuel tank is so small on the 1200, well, compared to my PD. Would recomend motoespana.com and mike, we were picked up and droped to the airport. I can't type fast enough to give a report like Orlas:augie.:type
I am working on a "cunning plan" of a spin localy to raise money for a charity in the near future, if anyone is interested:thumb2

There's a lot to be said about fly'n & hiring.. Sounds like a good one. Did you bring your own gear?

Feckin' Airheaders... be a cold day in hell before a compliment about a 1200 would pass through your lips :type

Hiya Padge,
took our own gear, and gps, but no rain gear, but watch out for insurence, its included in the package, but if there is a claim you have to cover the first 1000 or 2000 euro on your credit card.
Having gained the bit of experience, I/We will do it again. I'd like to get in a bit of solo riding on some of the passes.:thumb
:bowYes the 1200 was nice, torquy(?), powerful and quiet, and apart from needing a tanker towed behind you, I dont know how you guys manage them off road with all the stickey out bits:eek: I recon a bored out Basic has to be the way to go:D

Sounds like you had a great time! Any pics to share? I am off to Spain in two weeks via Plymouth/Santander.Did you pre book accomodation or wing it?

Hi zanussi,
winged it apart from the first night, late flight into Girona. hotels were very quiet, ski season just finished, and apart from hardened walkers, the tourists havent started yet. I'd be interisted to hear how you get on with the ferries.
Good luck

Seasickness

Zanussi,
I came back from Spain to Plymouth on that ferry last week. A word of advice, pack the seasickness tabs. Trip from Plymouth to Spain was fine, absolutely calm but a nightmare on the way back. Riding in Spain was great though, lovely roads and weather. Have a good one.

Thanks Coxy

I might do that, although I haven't been sick on a boat since I was a kid and I used to travel back and forwards to the UK every couple of months for work and you know what they say about the Irish sea!
I understand the Bay of Biscay can get rough due to a shallow continental shelf? I actually enjoy the ferry..so hopefully it will be good!

I take it there was no problems with the bike during the rough voyage?

No problems at all with the bike but I would recommend you strap it down yourself. I kept it on the sidestand, some had it on centre stand with no problems. Have a good trip.
