Has anyone been around the French side in Feb kind of time? I know that the weather might be a little fresh, but I'm thinking of renting a place near to Mauleon for 6 months so am going to do a recce in Feb.

My question is: Will there be much accomodation available or does everyone shut up shop until the fairer months? Would it be a good idea to book in advance or could I just rock up like I would do at any other time of the year?

Thanks!

based in Engomer (highly recommended been 4 times in the last 18 months), but there are a number of other places around St Girons that are open year around....

Yeah _ I know these guys - they are good - still may be a little far away - which Mauleon is the question.
(BTW the Col De Port and the rest of the area will still be very cold - and possibly not open in feb) - where did you want to ride dotcaf?

It's near to Mauleon-Licharre that I'm interested in. Specifically between Ordiarp and Tardets-Sorholus. It's a fairly small area, so anywhere within, say 20 mins.

I'm going to fly down and hire a car to scope out where I want to take a place. Half of the plan is to see it out of season to see what I think. Once I've rented a place, I can take some toys down for the summer!

Thanks,
Charles
