Pyrenees Trip

Great Vid

Those few minutes have captured the spirit of my past trips to the continent and the up coming one.
Well done.

great work:thumby: im just planning a quick trip in September, ferry to santander and a nice route back up west coast of france any good roads i should consider?:beerjug:

Great video Andy66! Conditions down here are not too good at the moment with rain and snow melt, its that bad roads and bridges have been taken out ! But today the sun is back so that will help :clap .

We'll be sailing into Santander on 23/24 July and after two nights stop there, we'll probably head due west in our 2CV theough the Picos and on to NW Spain, then down into Portugal, east towards Madrid and Valencia before arriving in the World 2CV Meeting at Alcaniz ten days after landing there.

On the other hand we may drive from Santander eastwards towards San Sebastian and tour the foothills of the Pyrenees.:nenau

Just crossed the Pyrenees today, took the N134 from France to Jaca, then picked up the N260 to head east, cracking road apart from the last 30 miles into El Pont de Suert which was rutted and potholed. Gret scenery and some stunning views.

Picos,Pyrenees and home through france

Enjoyed the video!
10 days back from a 2 up trip ( sorry--- on a deauville!) around the Picos (snow and rain but stunning roads and scenery), down to Tudela, Zaragosa ( empty and windy!). From there Huesca and onto the N260 which we followed to the Med. An amazing road - u tube videos just dont convey the emptiness ( never overtaken by another bike! and sometimes didnt see another vehicle for 10 miles at a stretch), the views and the endless corners. Then up through the Cevenne and the Auvergne ( Yet again the Pas de Peyrol was wet windy and unpleasant). An unpleasant day relieved by a hospitable stay at the Riders Rest in treignac before heading to Caen.
Highlight of the trip: Hiking in the Canyon.

Which canyon?

Ordessa Canyon. Approached from Torla. More or less across the hills from Gavarnie. A world heritage site, with a variety of walks, some faily level but others very airy. a real must for any hill walker

Hi Paul, your planned trip sounds pretty good. I'd be interested to know what route you plan to take from the Picos down to Portugal. In September I'm planning to ride from Santander to Olhao in Portugal taking about four days, riding nice and steady with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.

Video looks good.

Do you guys post route plans, or gps tracks anywhere after making such a trip. Picking up my first touring capable bike next week and fancy some trips like this, but don't have the first clue about where to start with it!

That video sums up just what a bike trips all about, rain as well, very well done! :thumb
