I'm curious about the above, namely to connect the (7 pin DIN) helmet headset lead (mic & 2 speakers) directly into a Kenwood 3101 - obviously necessitating some alteration of existing leads/sockets. At last - some use for my spare leads!

Why? To facilitate those instances where I'm on a bike without an Autocom unit and want to listen/speak with others. Autocom have kindly offered to look at making up a lead connecting the 7 pin helmet lead to a 2.5" jack plug for the radio output connection. This would allow me to listen to the radio but not to transmit. This apparently is what's used in many bike training centres. This is certainly a start, but I'm being greedy and need to be told why is itsn't possible to identify and connect the headset mike connection to another 2.5" plug and plug this into the radio mike socket. I concede that transmission wouldn't be VOX activated and would necessitate pressing the PTT button on the radio. That's no biggie and would allow use for example, when stopped.

I'm wondering if anyone has explored this in any way. Any comments gratefully received. :thumb.

I'll be back for the wiring diagrams!

I use a intaride Rp1 system on one of my bikes, on the other, i use the bike to bike intaride system, it connects through a PTT and has a standard 2.5mm and 3.5mm jack for a radio, the helmet kit though intaride stuff, connects i think using a 7 pin din socket, to a larger type socket, i also use it to play music, using the 3.5 connector, via a mp3 player and a booster, as i only use the pmr occasionally, not sure if the din plugs are the same, but it could be a solution

I used a direct link to an Inta ride radio to my Autocom headset / mic when I did bike instruction, and Intaride did the electrickery for me very reasonably (an intsy winsy resistor dewberry wosname in the cable...DAMIK) Worked very well for me. I also used a PTT, which I would always recommend anyway, saves losing friends when you "forget" they can hear you!!!
