question about Glasgow

what's Hyndland like to live near ...?
Hyndland is nice albeit busy cause in West End. Only downside is you’re close to my flat and we might have to go for a drink or lunch occasionally?! 😬

Nice area, depends what you’re after. In town or on the edge? House or flat, area or size of home the priority?

thanks for the replies
@TIJ650 @Northern jock @kondorpilot

for context, my daughter is looking at flat as uni accom has come to an end.... and she needs to find at place... so I will be up there from time to time :)

I’m assuming Glasgow uni rather than Strathclyde?
West end best for that and Hyndland would be good, not cheap I imagine. It’s also walking distance to uni and lots of places to eat and drink. I can advise on pubs for you, less so for your daughter!

I suspect the biggest challenge is finding somewhere suitable in any decent location, lot of demand I believe.

@Loiq , So many variables but as said, demand and price will be high as it is prime west end, even in the more student type areas.
Certainly a good place to buy/ rent due to the facilities and vicinity of Glasgow University.
Flat share, rent/ buy ? but given that even in student desirable areas there is a huge demand.
My daughter manages student accommodation and especially at this time of the year many students have the same predicament as your daughter. Either not being permitted to stay beyond an allowance of 1 or 2 years at the University halls / private accommodation or just arriving new at University and trying to secure accommodation.
Whilst not a first choice, maybe consider some of the areas served by the Underground system ( if not on strike ). This option would perhaps bring price and demand down but only a short hop on the small circular system north and south of the city.
Glasgow University served by Partick, Hillhead, Kelvinbridge and Kelvinhall stations on the North side

have fed all this back into the mix, and yes demand is very high, prices are very high and it's a thing to find and get done...quickly rather than leave and struggle before the new terms start...

next time I'm in Glasgow will say hello and buy a beer for anyone out for the evening

Let us know in advance

My wife went to the Hyndland Secondary or High School or whatever it’s called. Her family life was there until I interrupted it and whisked her off to a life off- I’m still trying to work it out.
As others have said, expensive but nice area and good walk to uni. But it is Glasgow and the great thing about it is, it’s not Edinburgh so people will make her welcome.
