I am interested in road testing a S10 in the near future what I wanted to know is are Tinklers a good dealer? I am interested in good aftersales service & a good deal on part ex for my GS ADV. What experiences have the Norfolk collective had.

Ian

From my dealings with them they have been great, family business established 1933!
Good PX on my 800GS, happy with their servicing so far and they know what they are talking about for servicing the S10, some say plug change at 12,000 miles Tinklers told me 18,000! also told me to run in engine for up to 800 miles (not 600)on mineral oil as that is what they do on demo bikes, engine is now as smooth as silk:clap
If you get an S10 it must be in blue, we are populating Norfolk with em:bounce1

Tinklers have been great with me for a few years now. From parts to buying my Gs from them. Adams a great bloke too. Plus I haven't heard of any bad from them

support the thoughts on here, they have a practical view on servicing (as per nig5 - do the first at 800/850) and I got the first service totally free, worth asking as Yamaha UK are now making new bike buyers pay for this

all the staff are pleasant and I have been back for a lock and tank bag when I could have got it cheaper elsewhere, they know that service sells

Adam gets my vote only met the guy 3 months ago he's totaly committed to the business believes in old values he'll tell you his business needs to make money to be there for its customers in the future but will at the same time give you the best deal he can, He wants customers to return for the next bike and the one after that, very easy guy to talk to won't push you for a decision you'll know once you've met him you can trust him.

My decision to buy came about through being challenged by Richard who had just ordered his for the 1st of March, to try a demo ride also the S10s rep for reliability, I had recently owened 2 Explorers which both suffered several recalls to the dealer.
Book a test ride for a whole morning or afternoon take the bike along some familiar roads, I'd be very surprised if the bike did not impress, and very surprised indeed if the dealer didn't impress.
I px'ed a 13 Explorer Adham allowed £500 more than I had expected and £900 more than the local Kawasaki dealer offered.
Good luck and please report back

Test Ride

Hi

You guy's are lucky if there is a demo available to test ride i could not find one down south, cant help thinking that Yamaha must loose a lot of potential sales particularly when you consider that BMW are so good at this.

Gents

Thanks for the replies, everyone seems to have a good opinion of the dealer which is what I had hoped for as they are my local main dealer. So I hope to test ride an S10 shortly & I will report back.

Many Thanks

I bought his last demo a few months back and he did say he would get another, not been in recently so cannot confirm but given the amount he's sold I expect he will have

He has already put a new 2015 Grey S10 on his demo fleet, also told me S10s are selling fast out selling supply in the UK which will lead to supply delays and waiting lists.

Tinklers...the memories.
My first accident ever was right outside their shop when I was on my FS1E aged 16. I was transfixed on the window display as I approached and turned right in front of an old girl in her mini. She hit me full on the left side and snapped off the pedal, but somehow I only got a bruised ankle. At least I didn`t need to get recovered :)

You have, Yamaha only import 10 a year, normally 7 of them end up being registered by dealers in December and flogged off cheap as Pre-Reg models just before the next years allocation of 10 bikes arrives.

Maybe this year they will sell all 10 before December!

At 10 per dealer, wonder what the total number of S10s registered per year in UK

Norfolk Posse - Update (New Bike)

Well I've done it, bought a Race Blue XT1200ZE should collect it from Tinklers on Friday. They offered me a good price for my 07 1200Adv which was £1000 more than Lings (what happened to dealer loyalty to customers). Also good discount on extras fitted, so I will be looking forward to running-in. The BM took 7 days to run-in, when I collected it I booked the service they thought I was mad & I got a recall done.

You will be impressed with the S10, all thoughts of reliability issues can now be forgotten because you now own an S10, guess you are pleased with Tinklers , Adam is a real gent to deal with.

IMHO the best accessory is the winglets and the taller Yamaha Adventure screen set at the mid height I never have to put my visor down even beyond three figure speeds.
Had mine since the 1st March and only just managed 600 miles last weekend.

Personally I am not sure about the blue wheels on the "Racing Blue" S10 but we all appreciate different design features.

Tinklers and Yamaha have done very well with sales of the S10 in our area over the past 12 or so months, the S10s secret is out.

Enjoy the new bike
