Hello :bow :bow :bow

Could somebody clarify a few questions about INNOVATE LC-2 for my single spark plug R1150GS 50K?

1. Is BOSCH 4.9 ( NOT 4.2 ) O2 correct sensor for R1150GS ?
2. What sensor cable length shell i purchase: 3ft or 8ft ?
3. Is regular sensor calibrating really necessary? If yes, are there any procedures that would allow me to calibrate it without removing the sensor?
4. Any LC-2 installation tips?

I decided to go with LC-2 over AF-XIED to benefit from a fresh O2 sensor and installation doesn't look that difficult anymore after reading Roger's LC-1 installation instructions.

Many Thanks!

Mmmmmm.... a lot of questions with unknown answers and you have already considered going this route instead of the tried and tested and marketed XEID product. Hats off to you if you can get it sorted and running. On their website, it was mainly for cars and no reference to bikes that I could see.

With the electrical extras already on my 1150GSA, I am finding it difficult to house all the small ballasts/amplifiers they require.

Good luck and keep us all informed.

Update,
Found this link on the product from Beemer America.

The LC-2 isn't that hard, if you're a software/electronics type. Otherwise, you may find it a challenge. The primary benefit vs XIED is data logging. The challenges are figuring out the levels to program (PM me if you get that far), usb-serial adapter setup, and calibration. Once every couple years they seem to need to be reset although the LC-2 is better than the LC-1.

You will end up with much better mixture control than with a "chip" change. Lambda shifting the only way to effectively richen below half throttle on a closed loop bike.

Below, some answers.

1. Is BOSCH 4.9 ( NOT 4.2 ) O2 correct sensor for R1150GS ? Use the 4.2 unless innovate will support you on the 4.9
2. What sensor cable length shell i purchase: 3ft or 8ft ? 3 feet
3. Is regular sensor calibrating really necessary? If yes, are there any procedures that would allow me to calibrate it without removing the sensor? I open the throttle fully, bump the engine around to where intake and exhaust valves are both open, attach a vacuum to the exhaust for a few minutes, then calibrate. Calibrating is sometimes needed to reset the device.
4. Any LC-2 installation tips? Yes. There are two analog outputs that can be programmed to simulate a narrowband sensor. A SPDT switch will let you change AFR on the fly. When everything is right it works quite well.
