A day off is planned to go out on the bike, weather has been really nice and Tuesday looks good . So work is shifted around and bike prepped.

Bugger weather set to change, not looking good. :blast Make up some sandwiches and fill a water bottle. Spare gloves, camera , satnag.
Looks overcast but what the heck, set off Man.:comfort
Visibility down to 100 meters over the Snake Pass but nobody about at 7.45am. Quick blast up the motorway to Junc 36 M6 then A roads .Almost deserted to Southern Lakes,Fells and Pass roads. Take the turning at Eskdale and pull in for a drink and a moment to contemplate the beauty of the area whilst watering the fauna.:augie

The changing light and the wet roads just adds to the challenge. Hardknott Pass and then onto Wrynose.

Usually do this run from the Langdale end ,so its interesting to do the opposite way from Eskdale. Some of the hairpins have corrugations on 1 in 4 incline, can feel the wheel skipping and occasionally slipping. Great fun and only 5 or 6 cars. The visibility on Hardknott was not good.

Usually walk up to the Hill Fort but couldn’t see it today. On descent it starts to clear.

Over the bridge and join the Wrynose.

The light quality just got better after the rain, the pictures do not do it real justice

Once off the Fell road scooted round to Coniston for lunch and treated Big Gert to that expensive fuel for the run home , she has earned it.

All in all a Grand Day out albeit a little bit damp at times. Home for 5.30pm

Good one Andrew .... good one :thumb

But where's the photographs of your sandwiches and flask, food? Scenery is alright of course but don't be forgetting the important things in life :D

Just for you Micky, I will post up me snap photo. Made by me own fair hand and water from t'tap disguised in a Buxton water bottle.

Off topic , are you still making the ear plugs. My ones snapped in two this morning need to replace them:thumby:

I've cycled up Hardknott a couple of times (well, once was more or less walking, the second time I just made it)

It really is a brutal piece of road. Last time I was cycling down it (which is bloody scary on rim brakes once they start overheating!) I heard a horrendous noise behind me, which turned out to be some old bloke and and his wife tumbling down the side in their car. Air ambulance came out and luckily they were relative fine.

Wouldn't like to do it in the wet!

First decent Bimble for a while. Love the Lakes know it really well, Julie's family from up round Kendal and Brigsteer. Always enjoy runs up there:thumby:

Langdale

We've camped at bay's brown farm for years down in chapelstile just down the road, great site but nowadays very busy at the weekends I think it's the best part of the lakes had some cracking times round about walking, cycling, n drinking can't beat it when you get the weather:blagblah:thumby:
