Quick response to photoshop tool problem requested

It's probably a one-button click problem, but I'm getting frustrated......

I'm trying to work on an advert that has to go to Bike Mag tomorrow morning, and in both Photoshop and Imageready, selecting a tool, any tool, still leaves me with the hand icon rather than the relevant tool icon....the hand one that you'd normally see when you move something around.

I've reset all tools but I can't find out why it's not working.....as above, i'm pretty sure it'll be a one click solution but I'm not seeing it....anyone able to help please?

Now, it doesn't really matter, but why did that work then? I presume the space bar is a toggle for something then?

Glad it fixed it Bill. I've no idea why it fixes it but I've had the problem before and by luck I pressed the spacebar and it fixed it. Remember, the spacebar is a shortcut to bring up the handtool when you are working with another tool.

eg. if you are working with the Brush Tool when you are zoomed in and want to move to another area of the image you can bring up the Handtool by pressing and holding the Spacebar, when you release the Spacebar it will revert to the Brushtool.
