Anyone know of any issues with the Quickshift unit.

MY16 with quickshift, from new

I've never been truly happy with it,

some days it works well around the 4k mark others it;s jerky and needs higher revs

Ive found recently that 2/3 fine 3/4 stutters, feels like step change as opposed to a smooth transition , 4/5 ok 5/6 ok

coming down the box is a totally random guess

564 can be fine 4/3 clonk 3/2 purr

I wouldn't say a get a blip shift on down shifts , just a step down occasionally i get a blip change, but i can count them on one hand

tonight i tried to use it, 2/3 & 3/4 it felt like it almost stalled between each shift ,

It's due to go back in for the remainder of the service in just under 4k , i'll mention it then and see what they say.

Anyone else had problems with there's ?

I’m sure I recall mention of a procedure within the owners manual to realign the gear shift assistant.Have look there? Just looked at the manual - Gear not trained with shift assistant ProOE
The gear indicator flashes.
The Pro shift assistant is not available. Possible cause: with shift assistant ProOE The gearbox sensor is not fully trained. Engage neutral gear N and, with the vehicle at a standstill, let the engine run for at least 10 seconds to train the idle gear. Engage all gears with clutch actuation and ride at least 10 seconds with the engaged gear. The gear indicator starts to flash when the gearbox sensor has been trained successfully.
When the gearbox sensor is fully trained, the Pro shift assistant functions as described (167). If the training process was not successful, have the fault rectified by a specialist workshop, preferably an authorised BMWMotorrad dealer.

There is a thread somewhere in this forum, which talks about stripping the QS unit down and cleaning out metal filing. But for the life of me, I can’t find it.

I had a similar problem with my 16.5 GS and found this procedure either on this Forum or somewhere similar. If I remember correctly it did help to get the Quick Shifter working smoother.

•Step 1: Hold the throttle to the 100% wide open position and do not let go.
•Step 2: With the throttle still held fully open, turn on the ignition (but don’t start the engine) and allow for all checks to complete.
•Step 3: Turn off the ignition.
•Step 4: Close the throttle.
•Step 5: With the throttle fully closed, turn on the ignition (but don’t start the engine) and allow for all checks to complete.
•Step 6: Turn off the ignition.
•Step 7: Without touching the throttle start the engine and allow it to idle for a minimum of 3 minutes.

No promises but it might be worth trying.
