hi ive just bought me 1st gs 1100 its done 70,000 miles was registerd in 1995
its pretty tidy for age n mileage, only thing is it surges foreward like its jumpin outa gear but doesnt n it does this only on occasion and in higher gears asnt done it in 1st yet.. its been bmw serviced up to 65,000 miles and was told by previous owner a new clutch was fitted, i cant confirm this.
dose any one have any ideas thanks . ugg.:nenau

My 1100 did the same so I fitted a E-Prom Chip (£25) from germany and splitfile spark plugs...Runs like a dream!

i think i kno the problem, its being ginger and quite possibly homosexual?,my advice is to stop hanging around mens toilets late at night....got any car tax yet?hahahaha i got a rope, it,d av saved the police towing it away,i wudv charged less too.watever you do,dont touch the wiring ,im not sortin it out again:mcgun.....i got this man into bmw,s it may have been a big mistake for the gs,s credibility,,,AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS

The 95 1100 had bigger valves than the later models and was prone to surging.

I think you will find it's throttle sync more than anything. If it's been done by the dealer then it's bound to be miles out.
Your bike will have a cross over throttle cable thats a bit naff and lets the carbs go out of sync easily when the cable wears. Fitting the later throttle cable setup helps.

I rode a 95 1100 for years - quickest ones of the lot :thumb

cheers fellers am givin the bike a service this weekend so the 1st thing is get everything ballanced n a drop of redex, av put a full tank of super pluss in this aft to give a little more octane levle to the fuel, its in need of a service so will tell ye how i go, n ovcourse the fat man who writes rude comments about me hair colour is supervisin me, so if thers any cock up in settins , blame the fat bloke...ha,ha. pps am lookin for a cheep set of engine bars coz am on a tight budget, bent rusted dunt matta am good at cleanin stuff up
n modifyin to fit , ugg.

Quote.. universal usualy means it wont fit..

I agree with Rob, TB adjust but I'd do the valve adjust too.....

Surging seems to be more to do with not taking enough time to match the valve clearances than anything else.

checked the valves but was confused about the, i dont know how to describe em but here goes. they sit on the end of the valve stem like a hat but with the valve going throo them , was difficult to get feeler guages in .
i cudnt find a picture of them in the haynes manual, are they different on the 95 model , or is there an aftermarket part ye fit to possibly stop tappit rattle?
any ideas?:nenau

hi big lad , it seem like its on the throttle up in third the lunge happens it has a metalic feel to the action not like a fuel surge , so it could be gear box , bugga.
thanks for the info.
