Hy. First, let me apologize for registering here, even though I do no live in England, nor am I English, but there is no such forum in my country and I was looking forward to joining. I want to ask you if I should buy a R 1150 GSA with my current money, or wait some more, maybe I get enough for a 1200 GS. I've never driven a R 1150 GSA and don't know how it feels and what are its off-road capabilities. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate that.

Hi Ueshibul,

Welcome. But hey - no need to be 'apologising for registering'! This site is open to all, wherever they happen to live! So a warm welcome.

For what it's worth, I'd suggest you cannot make a decision between the two bikes, until you've riden BOTH of them. Everybody's thoughts and opinions will be different ......

just go with your own feelings, bearing in mind what you want to use the bike for, but only after you've riden both.

Hi there and welcome - I would personally buy the 1150 as I feel they are a better bike but depending on your size and strength they may be to heavy off road. The 1200 is lighter and a little faster but not as well made and I think the 1150 will still be going strong after the 1200. The 1150 is a classic bike and both will surprise you off road.

Which ever you buy enjoy it and post some pictures:thumb

There fixed it :thumb2 Try them both and have a long ride on them too not just a few minutes

And welcome ueshibul :beerjug:

Thanks for the answers, unfortunately I can't try any of them, as no companies offer test-drives in our country.... I am 1.80 metres and a swim champion, so I can easily hold both bikes. I want the 1200 GS Adv., but that is still too expensive and I still have to sell or trade-in my current bike. So, if you all say that the 1150 GSA is a good, realiable, both on and off-road bike, I think I'll purchase that one. Further opinions are apreciated. Also thanks for the welcoming

Welcome to the site :thumb I'd say given your height an 1150 Adventure will cause you no problems at all ;)

I've had one for 18months, got down as far as Rome on it... didn't miss a beat. Thought about upgrading to a 1200 but what's the point if the 1150 Adv ticks all the boxes?

hi and welcome , was in your city, 2am, raining and lost!
ill try again someday , in the sun:thumb2

Buy the 1150, it is cheaper and I think a nicer bike, but i prefer the more traditional feel of the 1150 to the 1200. Others will feel the 1200 is better. You will like whichever bike you buy, they are both great bikes.

Hi

You'll not be disappointed by an 1150GSA - I sold a 1200GS to buy one!! If you are not near a BMW main dealer, the fancy CAN bus electrics etc of the newer model may cause you problems.

Both good bikes, but 1150GSA better IMHO.

If finances too tight, an 1100GS is a belter of a bike.
