As the original windscreen on my 1200 GS is too short for me I am planning to replace it with an aftermarket screen (SECDEM BB 047 HP, French product; imported by www.clarysports.com).

When I tried to remove the height adjustment screws of the original screen I encountered unexpected resistance: I was not able to remove the nuts at the end, holding them with a wrench, trying it in both directions, even after WD-40 no success. I hesitate to grip the plastic heads too hard with pliers.

I'd be thankful for any hints, I bet the solution is very simple.

Thanks!

Use a bigger hammer ?

The thread is normal i.e. anti-clockwise to remove. I don't remember them being overly tight when I first removed them.

There are shiny chromed locking nuts on the inside of the mounting bracket. Simply get the required size spanner on the locking nut to hold it, then unscrew the moulded knurled adjuster knob all the way out.

Ensure that you catch the shiny chromed locking nut before it falls into the dark recesses of the engine, never to be seen again.
