Does anyone know where you can get some info on the new R1200s. It is meant to weigh 185kg and push out about 120/130 bhp, if you can find somewhere when you can use that amount. Still, it would be interesting .....................

R1200S

The R1200S is featured in the January issue of BMW Owners News. It's dramatically restyled from the previous model and very handsome IMHO. The tank has a humped shape somewhat like the new K1200, and the seat is now very deep and flat with a raised rear section like a proper sports bike. . You now sit very much in the bike, rather than on it. Power is a claimed 122hp, up from 98hp in the old one. It's also 40 lbs. less weight. Frame is steel with an alloy subframe. It's available in yellow with black trim, silver, a red and silver-striped model and a beautiful all black-- the one I'd choose.

Saw an all black one in the flesh at CW's on Sunday. It's beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. I could stand one in my living room and look at it all day! As for riding it - I don't think my back or dodgy knees would take it for long!

A friend was at the dealer launch of the R1200S at Donnington this week. He rode it both on the track and on the road. In spite of the fact that he sells them for a living, I've never really thought he was a BMW fan. However, he tells me that he's ordered an S because it's probably the best bike he's ever ridden and he'll be getting rid of his Ohlins suspended R1.

I had one out on Saturday for 30 mins.

It is fairly 'tucked up'.

But it's really quite awesome.

Handles well, brakes well, and goes like hell!

And the silver-red colourway looks much better in the flesh than in the comics.

I had a test ride on the R1200s at the ace cafe on sunday. BMW had a demo day there with F800s,R1200s K1200r etc.The 1200s is a nice bike but i still
prefer my 1200gs.

I want to put the engine in my GS another 22HP would be great as long as it didn't loose power any where else :clap

Haven't tried one yet as it isn't an option for 2 up touring. Hope to try the K1200GT soon though can't see it be as much fun as the GS :nenau

I have to admit that apart from the GS this is the best bike made by BMW as far I am concerned. I saw a black one in the showroom the other day and I pretty much fell in love with it.
