R100GS fender extender

Try making one..

Kenny,

I made a fenda xtenda for my 1150GS, I got hold of a section of the material that they use for rally car mud flaps and cut my own out. Fitted them using some plastic screws like the ones used on the reg plate. Scout around your local car accessories shops or industrial units.

Thanks guys, I bought a couple of 'patern' mudflaps from Marriotts Motorcycles but my bike chewed them up at speed as they were made of flimsy rubber (probably more for scooters etc) Just thought I'd be posh and try a fender extender !!!:) Kenny

FENDER EXTENDER ( sounds like a rock band)

BVM in Stroud do these for the 1150 and also the injector covers that come as standard on some of the other models in the range.

I think the extender cost me £7 and its BMW specific. The injector covers are £3.50 a pair ( left and right)

A tip to anyone who fits the injector covers:

You WILL lose the right hand one, ask Motorworks. They almost always end up sending a second R/H cover to people. Don't ask me why, but the R/H cover seems to be susceptible to being blown off or knocked and then pinging off at speed, never to be seen again.

Drill a small hole in each side at the back end and put a small cable tie or safety wire through it and round the fuel pipe to retain it. Even with this, it will come loose and unclip, but you will not lose it as it cannot move too far away. I have even tried gluing it on with silicone sealant but to no avail.

I take no credit for this. Thanks to Ross (Cole) who passed this on to me last time we met.
