I have a 1991 R100GS, I would like to firm up the front forks (but don't particularly want to change the springs). Has anybody ever used spacers in the forks? ( I did this on my G/S and the 1 inch spacers were just about right). Not sure about the Marzocchi forks on my GS though. Can spacers be bought?

Can't use spacers because, on full bump there's no clearance left inside the forks & they would top out & maybe push the top cap out.
My patented trick is to use thicker oil. Try this:-

Left hand leg- 16.25W ( 75% 15W, 25% 20W)
Right hand leg- 15W

Use normal recomended quantities. Make sure you use oil that can be mixed. I use Silkolene racing suspension fluid.

Kenny, that certainly works. It's what is in your R80GS at the mo (unless you've changed it). I took Howards advice on that one. :smokeboun

Thanks for that Paul. I can tell the difference when jumping from the R80GS to the R100GS (thought it was me!).

See you at llangollen, Kenny:beerjug:

Just tell me you're not putting that weight of oil in there, are the forks for tractor ? :D
