'89 R100GS paralever, gearbox to swingarm rubber gaiter. Mine, the front prop UJ has worn a hole in it all of a sudden.
I think it had a stick wedged between the box and the front of the swinger from the inner side so pushed the rubber on to the shaft.... said the vicar to the school mistress!:P
There seems to be two new variants available, an original BMW rubber, and a cheaper copy. Any tips please? :thumby:

I would go with the OEM one. The so called "improved" ones from motorworks are known to fail early early early.............my 84 bike still has it original one!

When it comes to buying rubber parts - gaiters, rubber boots Etc I always buy the original BMW stuff

Bugger, I recently bought the motor works one having been sold on the description of it having been designed for easier figment. The one I have us fine but bought this just in case I decided to do spline lube and thought I'd change it then. I live and learn another bit every day.

Sounds like theyre so fragile that they might split if I just look at them, I could send them back then.

Motorworks also sell pushrod rubbers that are made of cheese. They know about the problem but sell them anyway.

Guess which independent BMW supplier I no longer use :D

Yeah, I can picture the scene now, as my order arrived they all gathered around the screen and start rolling around with laughter.
That makes two of us I bought the same items, but there reputation has travelled far and wide as local Ausi bmw owners told me not to fit them as they are rubbish and to go and buy proper BMW gear which I did as the thought of stripping that lot out again was not a happy thought

I'm in the same boat as you Bill. I'm replacing both gaiters as well as a few other bits and had just received replacements from Motorworks. :blast
I've just now ordered the OEM ones through my local BM car dealer. I was surprised to see that there is not too much difference in the price and no delivery charge.
What will we do with the MW ones now?
