R1150GS Alternator Belt Snapped

Hi Guys,

Having a lovely day out with the Scarborough, Whitby and Pickering area today, when the battery light came on started to cut out.

Got the bike onto a trailer and home, just looked now and the alternator belt has slit down the center and came off the pully's, no extra broken bits in the bottom just a little bit of belt.

I've looked at a few threads on here and they have mentioned damaged censors?

so the questions and thoughts are:

is there anything else I need to be checking before I replace the belt

what damage should i be looking for

is this a normal occurrence (belt changed 6000miles ago, 48,000 now on her)

thoughts and comments much appreciated

Damage is often when you use a screwdriver to tension the new belt the point you want to jamb it in is where the H.E.S cable is:blast

Buy 2 replacements,keep spare on bike ;)

It also makes fitted one never fail....Murphy's law but in a good way:D
