Hi,

Is there any real advantage in changing the OEM end exhaust for an aftermarket one i.e. Remus or the likes?

Whether its second hand or new the negative is always the cost but is it worth it? what are the advantages? Would YOU do it?

I apologise if this question is a little too basic for some of the highly technical on here but as i'm Not mechanical I thought I would ask first prior to spending monies and then realising its a waste.

Thanks inadvance

Mark

I had a Remus on one of my adventures. Even with a y piece it made no noticeable difference at all. It was louder but that's all. Took it off and sold it here. Not worth paying for in my opinion.

IMO 1150's run better with some back pressure, I had a Remus for years ... I'd fit it, take it off, fit it take, it off but the only reason for fitting it was for the sound which 10 minutes later was getting on my nerves so got rid of the fekin thing :D

Advantages? :-

The biggest is, Weight Saving probably 10 kg if you change the Cat and the can

Another is the Nicer noise than the excited sewing machine std noise

Fitting the pipe checking the TPS setting and adding a Link wire in the cat code plug can increase performance :-D

personally I am not so fond of the K & N as they really don;t start working till they get some dust on them and then people take them out and clean them :aidan

Downside:-

is You have to find somewhere to store your OE pipe and CAT and may need to buy a Lamda probe as they do get stuck

Another option is the Dominator exhaust on E bay at the minute, a mate of mine bought one for his 1100RS and is well happy with fit and build quality Its a bit loud but has DB killer and is about £120 ish for both bits

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the information.

My bike has the CAT already removed so its just the end can that May need replacing and the Lambda sensor has just been replaced by BMW under warranty within the last 6 weeks.

Ive no idea what TPS settings or link wires are and would ideally like something that just needs fitting without altering timing etc as its way out of my depth of knowledge.

Thanks for the information about the Dominator, ive just looked on ebay and they seem to come from Poland but they are a good price compared to other manufacturers so may try them. Im also looking at a 2nd hand Laser on ebay so will see what price that gets to as well.

Thanks again,

Mark

My 1150gs runs a K&N Y piece with lambda, Remus can and Johngs1100 stage 5 remap chip and the bike runs way better than it did standard, picks up quicker pulls like a train, and of course sounds much better than standard....
