Why would Givi design a base plate that puts the box too near to the seat to allow sensible pillion accommodation? I have made up a cardboard template for an aluminium plate for the Givi plate to bolt to which will move is back 2 or 3 inches which should solve the problem. 250 x 200 x 6mm is the size of plate required, then angle two of the corners and drill 8 holes and we should be sorted. Having googled the issue I am not the only one to think this is a problem.
On the plus side, I took it for its first ride today since buying it at the weekend and it is just how I imagined really......a lower version of the GS. The low ratio 6th gear is great for relaxed cruising, 4K at 80mph. I have a baglux tank cover on order. The only other modS I will give a try is the up and back bar risers like I have on my GS and possibly a rear hugger to help keep it look as great as it does now. Can`t wait to take her on a really long run.

I set up the base plate for my Givi on the existing rack 'temporarily'* on my R100GS with really heavy duty cable ties - so i could chop and change location quick and easy after trial runs with Mrs Og (She is a very frequent flyer on the back of me :D )
Took a while but i found the right place fairly quickly without further faffing around. :thumb2

* had the Bike for about 6 years.... and never actually found a good reason to fix it 'permanently'. Once set in place and the box is on - it IS secure.

I had to move mine back by making new holes as well....I did it on the GSA and I really ought to do it on the brick as well, just haven't got around to doing it :blast

Not a big job though, nothing to get het up about :nenau
