I’ve got an old R1100GS plastic tank that’s been sitting around for a few years. I now want to fit it to my bike. The tank has had the internals removed but I’ve managed to source all the parts - I think. I’m about to assemble the whole lot and was wondering if there’s anything I should do before using the tank. Should I rinse it out with water before I use it? Any ideas:nenau

Bolt it all together and slap it on and see what happens. If it works, then leave it alone and you'll forget all about it in a cuple of years.

If it doesn't work,or goes up in flames, then I told you to check it out in every possible way you could, and have an expert check it again for you.:thumb

Can of worms this one, and dragging up distant memories... It"ll only work on year 94 bikes. Then they changed to metal and redid the silver side moldings...

I could be wrong... Handy tank BTW has 2 liters more than the crap metal ones

Steptoe told me it is just the rubbers that's different on the plastic tanks fitting

Thanks all - so basically I just bolt it all together and see what happens? I’ll make sure I have a fire extinguisher handy. The 1100 plastic tank is going on an 1150. I’ve looked into this and sized it all up. The tank fits but the tabs on the back of the 1150 beak have to be removed. Looks like an easy job – I’ll post up some pix.
