hi all.....only had this bike a few months and looking through all the service history and loads of paperwork looking for any abs issues in the past....havnt found anything....
bikes got 52000 miles...are there any other early abs bikes which still have a working system or am I special(as my mother calls me)
cheers all....

My 1994 R1100R, abs works absolutely fine thank you.

If it was a 2005 bike, then I'd be surprised as that seems to be the peak of the abs failures.

Just enjoy it.

My 2005 with 47k still has working servo-ABS. Not sure if there was ever a problem during previous ownership that was fixed under warranty, but I can't see any evidence of that in the paperwork.

Probably only special in the eyes of your mother.
However, regarding the brakes: Absolutely normal. Failure is the exception rather than the rule. Mine has only 52,000 on it, and has never been touched. No brake fluid changes, nothing. It just works. As the Yanks way, if it ain't broke, don;t mend it.
Myke

My 05 went for about 70k ish before it started playing up, cobbled a repair with a 2nd hand pump from Patz, it started playing up again at 127k so I binned it this time.:thumby:

They are fine now, but I miss the 100mph jamming the brakes on and yr eyes poppong out yr head with the G force lol:aidan

If I end up having to do Mine I could probably do the pipe work but not sure about the electrikery

Should the servo dim your headlights? I do a lot of city riding in Dublin. Lots of inclines at lights. I have to hold the brake on. Could my servo be killing my battery?

2004 32k and brakes feel fine

Then use the rear brake for holding stationary. Press the rear brake hard when stopped and the servo switches off. Use the front and the servo continues operating .

Mine does that too. Always has - new battery makes no difference. Nor did a new alternator, when the old one cracked its casing and became too noisy to bear any more. Lights dimming a bit of a concern braking on unlit A-roads at night

56k 04 1200GS and no ABS issues ever, as far as I know. I've had it 7 years and it came with lots of service records, so I reckon it's been free and clear

Hi everyone. My 2004 gave up the ghost with the ABS last week. Warning lights on and no rear servo. Tried all the usual stuff, wiring plugs and fluid change but it's still bust. The machine is 13 years old but not even 3000 miles done yet. I was hoping to keep her standard but the servo-ectomy is looking like an option.

You changed the battery yet? Or should I say make sure your battery is in top condition before doing anything.

Brand new battery, fluid fresh. GS-911 tool says rear circuit pressure too high. While sitting with all the brake bleed nipples open, all of them live data reads high pressures through
the circuit with 62 bar on the rear. Weird.

Just noticed a different sound from my servo today. Its make like a two toned noise on and off, like the electric motor has a bad bushing. Im a little worried now.
