Had a bit of a crash with a van turning into a side road. Ow. Anyway, the bike is shortly to go to Carole Nash's repairers and I have a few questions:

1. Should I strip (sellable-) accessories off the bike before it goes for assessment + repair?

2. If it is scrapped should I buy it back and strip for spares for ebay?

3. Do James Sherlock/Motorworks buy part-crashed bikes?

Anyway, off to get some more brufen. Have to say Hein Gericke kit + armour is awesome (one tiny graze) and engine bars saved my cylinders and my leg. Tough bike.

I'd be inclined to remove all including the rear seat, pannier mounts, Nautilus horn, satnav mounts, screen extenders even the oil down to the minimum level!

BTW Which oil do you use?

PS only joking on the oil bit!!;)

Horn + pannier mounts

Nicely done....forgotten to rip the horn out. Going to leave the Centech fusebox as the wiring for the spots is way too complicated to pull apart in my frail state. The lightbar is pretty mangled. Wonder if you can straighten em?

Definately strip all the bits off it as once it's left your care you may never see the bike again

A mate of mine had a 955i Daytona reversed over by a van. He made the mistake of calling Carol Nash before he called me. Pillion seat cowl, carbon fibre race can swapped in 10 minutes and I was in the process of removing the billet yoke and high bar kit when the Carol Nash man turned up :augie

Shame really as it had a new set of tyres on it too

Why are you going to "Carole Nash's repairers" ? You have a legal right to demand it gets repaired by a BMW dealer.

Following on from this, before you waste time and effort stripping everything off, get bike assessed by BMW dealer and they will let you know quickly if bike is likely to be repairable or a write off.

Repairable...hurrah

Apparently the bike is just about repairable within the insurance rules. Seems best option to get it repaired with lots of nice new bits than buying a used one with the insurance money which I know nothing about. Plus warranty (should) continue.

That'll make an 80% un-original bike with the warranty repairs plus insurance repair. Engine bottom end and fuel is about all the original bits left....ooo and the wheels.
