Hello,
Quick question- I have just bought a DIN to Car Adaptor from NN.
I know I have a Power point under my L/H side seat (12V)
Is there another one somewhere upfront? I have read something, somewhere a while back but can't remember details or if this is on a GSA or not... It's a 12 volt GPS socket I think? Any help appreciated :)

Yes, there's a socket in the loom under the panels for GPS but you could add two more like the one below the seat.
There are moulding ridges in the panels - feel for them underneath, in behind the forks.
Some dealers say only one extra, on left.
Mine has one either side. 5A loading.
Hope that helps.
Dealer can do or you can buy the bits at reputable supplierz ov such fings..

Depends on exactly what you want to do. There is a connector hidden under the instruments you can use to power a GPS and which is switched with the ignition. To use this you will have to buy or make up a custom cable to go specifically to use with your model of GPS. You can buy such a cable from NN's and other places. Another way is to power the GPS from an accessory socket which takes either a DIN type or cigarette lighter fitment. If you want to do it that way, you will be better off to fit another socket which can easily be done on the GSA as its designed to have these fitted on the left and right of the beak in the middle of the winglet mounting points. I don't think BMW do a complete loom for this so its a DIY job and there are several ways of achieving this.

There are other options such as wiring a specific cable to the battery or fusebox or taking a split from the OEM socket by the seat.

Thank you- Can you tell em exactly where to find this socket please?

Also will it take a DIN adaptor? I am looking to use my phone with GPS from it, hopefully...

(a) The spur for the GPS is hidden away in one of two places:

(i) Under the headstock on earlier 1200 models

(ii) Behind the oil cooler on newer models

It has a black plasic cap which can make it difficult to see. So, put the bike on its center stand, try moving the handlebars from side to side and use a torch.

(b) It takes a special plug, available from BuMW dealers. This you can then use to make a lead for your GPS and / or connect it to any other socket or powered device you like. See: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117400 as to how to make it.

Note: It does though have a limit of 5 amps (maximum), but a GPS / phone will draw a fraction of this figure. Or you can buy a pre-made GPS lead from Nippy Norman, which will plug straigh in.

See the sicky, 'Switched power the easy way' for hints and tips. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180464

If you want to run an additional extension and auxiliary socket, right up to the beak, BuMW do a loom just for that purpose. It is a doddle to fit as it simply plugs into and piggy-backs off the standard aux socket under the seat. Again, see 'Switched power the easy way'.
