A question for the more knowledgeable on here please.

I was thinking about getting one of these Battery Booster Rescue Packs to carry - just in case my battery ever let me down - but which mAh version do I want - there seems to be all different mAh, 20000, 68800,99900 etc - I basically only want it to be able to jumpstart my R1250GS if ever it's needed.

TIA

Keep in mind, the battery in the bike is approximately 12Ah = 12 000 mAh.
Thus, any of the capacity sizes above will be plenty.

Rather than focusing on the mAh capacity I would focus on the ability to deliver Amps during the start attempt and the quality of the cable clamps.

You may think that larger is better, (and technically it's not a disadvantage) but consider physical size as well. The chances are that the booster function will hardly ever be used, and even the smallest quoted capacity will start the bike.
Starters with optional features such as USB outlet would be preferable (in my book), as the charging function is much more likely to be used rather than the Jump Start feature.

Not the cheap on the market, but best of the best small come in case and have all cable, work on many bikes, I have for 5 years help many times.

The amp hour rating of the standard chemical battery on the bike is irrelevant in this case. The cranking amp (CCA) ability of the battery is all that matters for starting the bike. A gel or AGM battery of 12 Ah might have 250 to 280 CCA, but a 4 AH lithium can be over 300 CCA. Most small battery packs are Lithium these days.

Always carry one in my pannier. Luckily i have started lots of mates bikes but not needed it myself yet !
I bought one off amazon for about £40.

I carry the Noco gb40 in my top box
Never needed on my bike yet but started my car a couple of times when the battery gave up

I have the noco 40 and the 70. The 70 is very heavy. The 40 does everything and the cables can be unplugged for optimal packing.

That's brilliant, thank you all very much, NOCO GB40 it is then. Superb!

I recall when I got mine they were £85 on Amazon ( currently £100 ) but Halfords also stock them so you may be able to get one of their discount codes / trade cards.

Thanks Joe, indeed I already have a 10% voucher to use at Halfords from when I bought a new battery for mine recently, so that will be used on buying the Noco. Appreciate the heads-up as it reminded me I had the code still to use !!!!

+1 for the 40 & the 70. Noco is top quality. All the neighbours know I've got one :D

Fantastic, does anyone have a live discount code for Halfords.

My cheap job from Ebay, costing around £30 has worked fine. Started a Seat Ibiza and my S1000XR.

It also has USB ports which are very useful as a back up if your phone battery dies.
