R1800 gs

Me wanty :thumb2
Looks great ! I see a little S1000RR in it...With 1800 cc 180 HP/NM should be no problem , 17 " wheels and Telelever !
I'll buy 2...:D But for now only a box of Kleenex...;)

inlet at rear and pipes out the front again? how does that get past all the cam chains etc.
Must say I do like that set-up but prob an artists dream..

Mix of the R18 barrels and the 1250 shift cam head, so more artistic licence than technological achievement!

Likely so heavy that it would be useless off road and unwieldy on the twisties. The CoG would be way too high and far too wide unless it was massively oversquare.

A non starter from somebodies dream.

Why would you want an 1800 engine when the 1250 has so much power already?

Someone ought to stick it a cruiser, slap on some ridiculous monkey bars and then try selling the ‘American Dream’ to the yanks.

BMW will have to do something with the R18 boxer to recoup their investment as they can't give them away...Harley has a monopoly on making overweight & underperforming boat anchors...A R1800GS and R1800S with T-L with mucho Torque and hp like a realistic 165 hp/nm @ 7000 rpm because the big piston long stroke boxer can't rev that high would be a huge seller while the R18 is a dust collector...:D
They need to hire that designer because with a few plastic pieces and S1000RR looking lights the GS looks so much sportier...All I would do is add an underseat exhaust for 2 same volume bags and the M1800GS or R1800XR would be perfect :thumb

I think that if this hypothetic mind game would ever be a reality, it would end up in the same category as when the K1300GT was dumped in favour of the K1600,
an agile 250kg sport tourer was traded for a 350kg boat anchor...

Knutk , I can see BMW putting the R18 lump into a bike resembling the Yamaha MT-01 but with shaft-drive & Telelever :thumby: That would be cool and sell better than these R18 boat-anchors that collect dust at the showrooms currently...
As for the R1800GS...A R1350GS with 160hp/NM looking like the one above would sell like hot cakes and make a lot of riders very happy :thumb2

If it shut you up it'd make a lot in here very happy.

We should form a group for Boxerlust to be enlisted in the bollocks and shite support group to assist Trump with the same ideology.......I can just see the banner now " Give us our 170 BHP ".....

I traded my K1200GT for a K1600GT and completely disagree with your summary. The K16 was a much better bike (admittedly much more expensive), especially for 2-up touring. The K16 was every bit as agile as the K12.

As for the original post; it seems about as relevant as drawing a picture of the VFR800 with the current Honda MotoGP engine in, or a KTM with a Mercedes Formula 1 engine in. Might be a brilliant idea but very little chance of it actually being built!

The 1600GT is too big/heavy to replace the K1300 series...The S1000XR does not have the Torque or the shaft the K had.
As for the R1800GS not being relevant...Of course it is safe to say there won't be a R18 boxer powered R1250GS but the picture shows how easy it is to make a more sporty and attractive looking street variant of the GS...With the pipe under the seat it would look perfect !
As for the engine it should be easy for BMW a company that made already 2 liter 4 cylinders that revved 10 000 rpm in the first M3 DTM cars or got 1500 hp from 2002 4 cylinders in Brabham Formula 1 cars or made the first Formula 1 engines that broke the 19000 rpm ! level to get 165 hp and 155 nm from a 1300 - 1400 cc shift-cam boxer engine to power a bike looking like the R1800GS :thumby:
