Just a quick question. I've just received my R259 unit from TTS and noticed it's for 'Boxer Twins 2000 - 2003'.

Has anyone successfully fitted one of these units to an earlier model? I know my motronic unit is the earlier pre-2000 type and don't want to plug it all in to find it doesn't work.

TTS weren't sure and said to try it and if it doesn't work they'll take it back - good customer service.

Another plus point is that TTS dialled in the settings for other S' they've set up on their dyno before sticking it in the post. For those of you worried about setting it up correctly just ask them to do it for you - it'll be close enough and a good starting point for minor tweaks.

TIA

For those of you who are interested I have just had my question answered by Rick at Techlusion...

Yes, there is a different unit for the earlier motronic 2.2

The R-259 FI-1032 is for 2000-2003
The R-259 FI-1033 is for pre 2000

Not sure how it applies to the GS but definitely the case for the S.

TTS should have stock next week apparently.

Just fitted mine (well a week ago)

It seams that the differences are due to connections / wiring for the Lambda / Oxygen probe thingy

Later ones (2000+) have a circular four pole plug and socket with three wires being used / early ones have rotatinging lock thingy plug and less wiresz so if it fits its the right one.

Mines a April 2000 and had the latter one

Hope this helps

Thanks... I mentioned it on the Boxertrix forum to be told that all S' have motronic 2.4 so the dates only apply to other boxers.

I fitted it to see if it worked and hey presto away we go. The seat of the pants set up is a bit iffy... I have the red pot up to 6 so far which is a long way over the standard settings from Techlusion so I've booked into TTS for a set up on their dyno.

Cheers

Settings

I'm currently running ~ 2.5, 4.0, 5.0, 8.0

But I'm going to up Green (idle) to 3.0 and Cruise 8.5 next time out.

Y pipe, Std Can and NGL plugs

I am still unsure as to whether to get a chip or not. Can you tell me:

How much?
How easy to fit?
Procedure for fitting?
Can you tell a big difference?
Any other upsides or downsides

Cheers

Obviously the S is a bit different but I'm running a boxer performance induct, K&N, Y piece and std end cans. I think the induct and K&N needs plenty of fuel at the top end hence setting 6 on red. All other settings seem ok.

swooper

The Techlusion is a bolt on to the back of the FI and I've found this to be slighlty better (and more adjustable) than a chip. Both are easy to fit if you fancy dismantling the bike.

If you do a search for Techlusion and BB chip and I think you'll see that the GS benefits most from the Techlusion unit.

Techclusion/BB - More fuel/less fuel

Whilst the subject is up for discussion again :-

From guys who are racing, I was told that the downside of the techclusion is that it can only add fuel when required but it cannot reduce fuel, the DynoJet Power Commander however can both increase or decrease fuel as required, are there any views on this and does the BB chip do the same?

What happens to fuel comsumption when any of the above are added?
I have a Remus Can and Y-piece, removing the cat seems to have reduced my fuel consumption ie more mpg using the standard ECU.

Er we go

Easy to fit if your of the "I can remove my tank" sort of mechanical level.

Basically requires undoing to connectors and placing other connectors in their place and putting a wire to the neg side of the battery ~ all instructions are on Techlusions web site with a few pictures.

Defo inprovement in performince in the mid range from the start and I'm still twiddling fine changes but to be honist I'm good at that sort of thing and have found I can tune engines by ear. So a rolling road might be the answer if your not so good at the tweeking side of things.

This device only adds fuel so its pretty safe and easy to remove at the side of the road if it fails (I thought that was important).

Oh its 180 squid from TTS

If you only paid £180 for an R259 then you are a jammy git - It cost me £220 :( ...I thought the FI 1030 was £180

Yer right

I forgot the vat there's a bit of a story behind it. They sent / I ordered the wrong one at first, but I had great service from them and got the right one quickly and ended up with two bills..
