Hi guys I'm new to the airhead game and about half through rebuilding my 1989 R 65. Anyway I am getting close to fitting the wheels back on ,what make of tyres should I buy? Is there any preffered choice.while I'm here does anyone have a spare front axle without any pitting on the chrome that I could purchase.

Pretty sure I must have a spare front axle knocking about somewhere, I'll have a look tomorrow. In fact I have a complete front end for an R65 and numerous other spares so let me know if there is anything else you need. I have everything apart from the engine.

When i had an R65 , i went with Michelin , 100/90-18 front
120/90-18 rear.
I just like michelin tyres. probably a throwback to commercial vehicle ownership , where
Pence per mile , the Michelin XZ,s were the cheapest tyre on the market to operate with.

Avon Roadrider should be perfect, my friend has then on his 79 R65 cafe racer....

Crapnaud if your front axle still has good chrome I would be interested,my one is pitted at the end. I will bear in mind your other parts if required cheers
