I've been offered a 73 R75/5 fitted with a Squire sidecar and leading link forks. Unfortunately, the current owner sold the original forks some years back and this sale is being conducted through his son who is simply not in to bikes and just wants to see the combination gone out of his shared lock up

I'm not really sure at this stage what the bike will need as I've only seen it in the semi dark and it was partially covered in sheets. It's been stood for a couple of years, but I'm just not interested in and don't have the space for a motorcycle combination so the bike will be going back to a solo. A quick search on e-bay sees me finding forks in the USA but who would be the best source for stuff like this and any other R75 bits in the UK/Europe or do I just trawl e-bay Germany? :nenau

All advice welcomed :clap

It may be worth investigating whether the R50/5 or R60/5 forks would fit. All three models were introduced at the same time and it is likely they shared many common components. It may also be worth considering whether the later R75/6 and R90/6 forks with disc brakes could be fitted.

I'm sure there are far more knowledgeable people on this site who will have the answers. Good luck in your search.

I'm pretty sure the R50/5 & R60/5 forks will also fit and have widened the search accordingly

I'm looking to retain the original drum brake :thumby:

I think R60/6 will also be the same. I think you may also be able to use most of the fork parts from disc braked /6 and /7 with ATE brakes, it's the alloy lowers for the drum brake models that differ. I often talk bollocks though.:beerjug:

You are quite right I think - the /6 forks will fit but just the fork lowers differ to accept the ATE calipers. Either R50/5 or 60/5 forks
will fit.

Ok so I've got some forks but can anyone point in the direction of a schematic drawing that shows an exploded version of the front wheel, forks, spindle, washer/spacers etc?

Ta muchly

Don't worry I've just found one :clap
