In my experience it wasent that hard to get the spokes in , finger tight, and the rim sitting straight and true.
The problems started when I tried to torque up the spokes - the rim responds seemingly at random, and nothing I have learnt from building a fair few stock spoked wheels helped.
I stopped immediatly in case I twisted the rim.
Luckily my local wheel worksbuilder has the equipment to work with these things and he was able to complete the build for me, and the work I had done cut the cost in half , as removing the spokes is also a pig of a job.
