R85 general info/query

Hi Folks,

Not sure if this is the best place for this but I've been offered an old R85 in black with fairing and full pannier set fitted. It's an old fella in our village who has it. I think it's about 30 yrs old and apparently it's been fully serviced thoughout it's life, been garaged and rarely seen any rain. I haven't spoken to the bloke myself but have seen a recent photo and it appears to be in great nick.

Apparently, he wants it to go to a beemer enthusiast. No price has been mentioned as yet.

Just wondered if anyone could give me opinions of the bike, pro's and cons and what sort of money it would be worth. I'd post a photo but my subs have run out so I can't

no such thing , it will be either an R65 or an R80
both very similar and both great bikes

Not sure if there is an R80/5 but there is an R80/7. I bought one as a project a couple of months ago.
Old boy drove it into his shed about 10 years ago and it lay there till now.
I paid £400 for it which I reckon is about right for both parties - it needs a lot of work but I've bought it for a strip down custom job.
Not sure if this helps but IMHO go for it - you can always sell it on.
