Here is a scenario that I've exeperienced lately that others may wish to comment on.
My first bike was a Triumph Tiger 955i which I bought in March this year. I had a breakdown in late June and the bike had to be taken to the Triumph dealer at Chesterfield. Whilst I was there, I was looking at the new model Tiger and a salesman asked if I had considered buyingh a new Tiger. I told him I liked the look of the bike and said I might be interested and would like to book a test ride. To cut a long story short, I couldn't do a test ride, not because they hadn't got a bike available but.....because I hadn't got enough riding experience having olny been a full licence holder since Feb 29th this year. Their insurance would only allow people to test ride with at least 2 years riding experience. The salesman said that I should go to a dealer who would allow me to test ride a Tiger, then come back and buy one of their machines.
Rainbow BMW on the other hand allowed me to take a test ride on 3 separate occasions first on a 1200 GSA and again twice on a 1200 GS, I've since bought a 1200 GS from Rainbow.
Is this the norm for dealers to insist on only experienced riders having a test ride?
