Raising Rear Brake

Forgive me ...... but why would you want to? However if you're concerned about the lever snapping/braking in an off-road spill ..... suggest you have a look at the Touratech website.:nenau :thumb2

I think I know what you mean but if I were you I would be careful. Initially I had the same feeling but it turned out to be more a question of feedback I was feeling through my boots -- or rather not feeling my boots.

Descending a steep hill a friend asked me afterwards why I had my rear brake on all the time. I was quite unconscious of this and it was not intended, the simple fact is that I was unaware that I was actually pressing on the rear brake pedal!

After a bit of practice I got into the habit of always trying my rear brake before I needed to use it and I found that once I got on the trail I was much more capable of using it in a sensitive way.

It is true that when shifting your weight (ie backside) backwards to compensate going down hill you do have to rotate your foot quite a bit but not so much that I would wish to raise the brake pedal -- making it much harder to use on the flat in normal circumstances.

Pedal extender

I had the same sentiments about the rear brake pedal. That it was quite a reach. I tried the TT folding brake pedal. Nope that didn't work. Then I tried the TT pedal extender. Much better.

The R1200GSA has a little flip down thingy on their brake pedal. You may want to inquire if that break pedal will work on the 800. BMW doesn't like to make new parts if it can use existing stuff.

your best bet thus far is the TT pedal extender. You may be able add some washers under it to raise it up a tad.

You also have to adjust the play in your pedal from time to time as your pads wear out. Be careful. It is an easy way to burn out a set of brake pads or cause damage. (not that I would know :blast)
