Rallye 3 Jacket

I bought the R2P jacket 2 years ago and am impressed with it's build and features but now that I've worn it in most conditions I'm thinking it's too loose.

I'm 6'3, 205 lbs and the jacket is a euro 58. The only time the jacket feels somewhat snug is when I wear a Gerbings jacket liner and even then I can grab a large amount of the jacket in the front which is loose (more so around the stomach). The rear of the jacket comes to the bottom of my butt.

Enter the Rallye 3....

There are severals features of the new version which I liked so I tried one on one size smaller (Euro 56). With my arms out the sleeve cuffs just cover the wrist bone but in general the jacket feels more snug with the Gerbings on, so it's going to be even more roomy when the liner and Gerbings is not on.

My biggest concern about my current 58 is that if the jacket has that much room what value is the good armor if it's not going to stay on the point of contact. Good thing with the new Rallye 3 is those sleeve straps to cinch them up when the layers come off.

Am I on the right page with this 58 being too roomy?

I have the same problem, makes you look fat. Which in my case is true but more so.

So did you try one size smaller and assess? It's not as though the one size increment in their stuff is like going from XL to L etc....

I had a similiar problem with my Pro 2 suit...

....one seemed snug and fitted....but not necessarily on the bike....

.....the other was more roomy, less snug, but made me look fat (which I'm not )....But seemed comfortable on the bike.

The salesman suggested I went for the bigger size...and after using it on the bike he proved to be right.

You just have to accept that most layered jackets make you look big

Good Review

Well it was encouraging to read this review, which included an update from this fall.

What was of particular interest to me was that in the sizing section it said that the model normally takes an XL and the Euro 56 fit him well. So based on that it would appear that's why it felt better on me than my current 58.

i've been thinking about the r3 suit, its a lot of money worth it?

i tried one on and it was...heavy but felt it would do everything i wanted it for.
is there anything else you would recommend
i need to get a new suit asap, i've had my gsa a week and i'm still wearing the alpine-stars suit from my sports bike! the zip is broken so i get cold

As I've only owned the Santiago and Rallye 2 Pro line I can comment on those two. I'm very impressed and would see a purchase in either line, including the R3P, as a long term purchase so from that stand point I believe it's money well spent.

If my current R2P been a better fit, which was my fault alone, I wouldn't be looking at the new model. There are a few features in the model which I prefer over my current jacket but again, if my fit issue didn't exist those few newer features would not be enough to upgrade at this point.

I'm looking at buying new gear, too.
I tried on the rallye 3 and it was too snug for me --in all the wrong areas.
I'm not exactly fat, either, but I wasn't as comfy as I wanted to be.


The bmw trailguard has a more relaxed fit.
It even has the same armor.
The rain liners for the trailguard jacket and pants are sold separately, which kinda sucks....
