Who's fitted one onto their 1200 and where exactly have you mounted it...?

I intend to fit a bullet cam, had one on my Gixer for trackdays and Euro trips.
When you say Ram Camera mount Nadeem, is that for a video camera or stills?

John

I mounted one of these on the bars, left of center Ram Mount

The 7/8"-1" U-bolt does not allow me to mount it dead center.

Placed my DiMage Xt on board and did a test run.
It gets rather buzzy above 4,000 rpm when viewing the video.
Below 4k, it is rock solid filming.

Only problem is small buttons, gloved hands, so it is difficult to
mess with unless you are stopped (which is probably a smart thing).

It's for both stills & vidcam...I'll order one in the next day or so...

Nadeem,

I have replied to your mail today.

The RAM picture gallery shows a mirror stem mirror which was done for Dahoum (RAM-B-231Z, RAM-B-201-A, RAM-B-237 and RAP-319).

The camera mount kit is RAM-B-149Z-C1. This can be used on handlebars, engine bar or the rail in front of the headlamp (may be with RAP-319). I also helped a Berks GSer with a helmet cam and helped him to mount the recorder unit. May be if he reads this thread, he will post some pics.

Thanks Steve

I can't find Ken's pics on the site...they R1200GS Cam pics are Paul Devall's bike & something else...

Just ordered the camera mount kit from GPS Warehouse to go with the Pentax Optio WPi camera for use on the bike - it's waterproof to 1.5 metres as opposed to water resistant...good for all weather use and at a great price...see here

This was the set up - useless. Any revs at all resulted in very blurred pics.

I later used the same set up onto the handlebars next to the L hand switch cluster.

Result = destroyed camera. Which was under warranty but Sony refused to pay the repairs (about £150) because they said the innards looked like it had been repeatedly dropped.

Dont do it !!!!

Why would you need a mount to take pictures when your stationary :nenau

Maybe you're better off with a bullet cam lashed to your lid - saves vibration related problems.

As a tripod - stable platform ...
I got myself a compact tripod for this use. Its made from three whip ariels and is very small. I often carry this when touring for group photo's etc. I think Jessops do them now.

Dahoum's had bad luck; I use exactly the latter set-up - also useful as an earplug stand:

...and I may get the RAM candy-pot for the same purpose.

Sample videos taken from that location, using a Canon IXUS 700 camera are at

- by virtue of their (RealPlayer) compression the web videos have less detail than the originals; see the screencaptures for the actual level of detail that the camera recorded. The road surfaces are in north Norway. Now I have some better codecs, I'll have a go at recompressing them, and edit together the trip video that I shot this summer.

Alec .. I have said before that I shall 'name and shame' anyone asking for it .. its for those *butch* walrus tache Harley and Goldwing riding cousins.

I recall the Libran Ninja (Whatton) thinking it would may a mobile ciggy ash tray.

As to gadgets, the drinky cup/can holder is better for touring as the sweetie holder does not store a choccie Yorkie bar. :D

you can make one of these for 10p gives really good results
i also use a bullet cam from that fancy named firm bike cameras . com
heres a couple of resultin video frames one from the bullet cam mounted on the pannier and one off the camera mounted on me 10p bracket
the bracket is a simple loop of 10mm flat mild steel drilled and then bent round and welded its held by the mirror fixing point and at the screw for the hand guard i used half a arial coaxial wire joining doobery as a spacer it really is vibation free and as you can see you can set the video recorder at some intresting angles dont recomend having speedo in the frame though
