Hi,
So me & a mate would like to take a trip to Rannoch Station from West Yorkshire. Ideally we’d like to travel as much as possible on the train but accept we’ll probably have to drive to a starting point.
I envisage we’d stop for coffee & cafe at Rannoch station & then go on to Fort William for an overnight stop & then travel back to our starting point
Has anyone done a similar trip & could give me some tips? All advice much appreciated.

We were there in May although we were staying on Loch Rannoch and had driven up. We drove to Rannoch Station and had a rather pleasant walk and back to the station for tea and nibbles. It is rather lovely with lots of fearless local songbirds landing on the tables in the search for crumbs.

check the cafe opening times - only 3 days a week at the moment. Presumably more often in warmer months

Have a watch of “ trains, planes, everything” on YouTube. Scott has done this and stayed at corrour station in the old station building.

The tip I would give you is to make sure you ride the A816 south from Oban

Is this a piss take post? Two minutes typing a question for what is essentially a return train journey.
Wouldn't you just google it...'trains from west yorkshire to Rannoch Station' or go The Train Line ?

As a former apprentice of HMS Caledonia, the name Loch Rannoch still strikes a fear in me (along with Scraesdon, Cardinham, Tal y bont and others)

tea rooms are on the platform, but it's probably closed now.
there is the Moor of Rannoch Restaurant & Rooms might not be available for casuals.
there are plenty of trains from Glasgow, about 2+ hours run.
or get a highland sleeper seat from Edinburgh onward, good coffee for 3£
get a highland rover travel pass, good for 4 days in 8 consecutive.
the west highland way passes Rannoch, well documented descriptions of the sections are on the net.
