RC30

The funny thing for me was that there was a very expensive looking Ducati Panigali V4S complete with personalised number plate parked next to the RC and no-one took a blind bit of notice, everyone was checking out the Honda!!

I owned one (bog standard) for a few years, selling it a UKGSer member.

At low speeds, the hot air ducted over the engine, burnt my inner left thigh.

The one in the picture has non-standard mirrors and, I think, a non-standard front fairing, as the indicators are gone. When looking for one, I saw several fakes. Some RC45 get done up to look like RC30’s. I helped the same UKGSer member avoid buying a pup or two.

I sold my RC30 and NSR 400 to same bloke.

Cried as he drove away in his van............................

Saw this in a Honda showroom in a town in Northern Italy yesterday. Looks new!.

I honestly can't think of another (road) motorbike that I would rather have than an RC30

I've come close to buying a VFR400R a couple of times - I missed a real belter last year due to my dreadful humm/hahh habit, and prices for those little ones are starting to get daft.

I can hear the exhaust bark and those whistling cam drive gears from here.

Pushing 40 years old (1987 in Japan IIRC) Fabulous.

These instead.

Spotted this one at Ardglass Harbour a few years ago. With the original 18" rear wheel many have been converted to 17" The first time I saw one in the flesh was 1989 when the bike club I was in ran a poker run and the late Sam McClements (Killed at a road race in Carrowdore) turned up on a brand new race kitted RC30 to "Run it in" it was a run of about 200 miles...........with no lights, road tax, insurance :D

I had a good ride on one which was owned by Bertie Payne (who sponsored Joey’s 250) and it was marvellous. He had it repainted in the Castrol colours of the time (sacrilege ! ) by the guy who did Joeys race bikes. Looked great from 10 feet, but wasn’t what you’d call a Dream Machine quality finish. Sadly, Bertie passed away and his widow Jean sold it to someone from England a few years ago. I was watching a YouTube video with Shakey Byrne recently and he was visiting a (camera shy) guys massive collection of bikes and blow me down, there was Bertie’s RC30.
