re-liability

I Think the short beak is a touratech part. Not my cup of tea ..
I think the gs is so ugly its good looking...if that makes sense!

I had a Transalp , went to France on it - I nearly fell apart - bag of sh**e vibrated and buzzed so much - it was the most painful bike I have ever ridden .
.

A couple of transalps were on tour with me in Morocco. Bikes were heavy, not taken offroad, and dog slow (although this may have had a lot to do with two riders) but you did get the feeling they were underpowered compared to the GS, etc. There may be a good bike hidden in the Transalp but as a package it does nothing for me and would not be in my dream garage e.g it is neither a particaulrly good road bike, and is too heavy / underdamped to be genuinely offroad capable.

Not always the case, just back from 2 weeks of tough offroading, Waynes bike cost him £900, he fitted an AT rear shock and it was faultless.
Dream bikes are very different in the real world, a KTM 950 developed several faults including both forks seals blown and a dented wheel rim, the 1200ADV was dropped countless times due mainly to it's bulk.

Which proves once again that the main limiting factor in the ability of a particular bike is the rider. :thumb2

I like the light weight of the R1200GS. It is 'o4 and I am tempted to buy an R1200GSA in New Year, but asking myself do I need the extra weight ?

Up to around 115mph, on twist roads, the 12GS is a cracker. Light, quick, superb brakes, no flexy frights = cracker.

Makes perfect sense to me - I drive an old shape Multipla for that very reason! :)

But I still don't understand the beak...
