Hello,
I've been informed by the nice man at the garage that my rear brake disc needs replaced.

Can anyone suggest a 'cheap' replacement?
Any advice on replacing it also most welcome.

I also need to do the fork seals - top tips very much appreciated.

Fork seals - Steptoe did a how to in the "Font of all wisdom" iirc? Do a search. It's a straightforward job.

Disc: no idea what the regs are in Kiwi but my dealer told me my rear disc needed replacing a couple of years ago. I bought one and have still not fitted it. The bike has passed every MOT since then!

I’m sure people in the Northern Hemisphere could suggest lots of cheap (ish) replacements, but by the time you factor in shipping to NZ, they won’t be cheap.

I hope you have tried Googling the part numbers and seeing what’s available locally in NZ and or Oz. It’s your most obvious course of action.

Quick questions

Hello all,
I had a potential brainwave - can anyone tell me if the rear wheel from a 1100GS will fit the rear of an 1150 RT?

If it will, can anyone see an issue with swapping the spoked rear from my GS with the cast alloy wheel of the RT to get it through it's test?

Also, I have seen somewhere that the minimum disc thickness is 4.3mm - can anyone confirm that?

Thanks,
DA

As you have both wheels at hand why not try them ? can't see them being much different ...

min thickness is for re-grinding NOT wear.

You’ll need the cast wheels different length wheel bolts. Also the rear disc is mounted to the final on an RT, not to the wheel as on a GS.

Bugger.
Thanks for that. I realised the disk was mounted differently when I measured the thickness last night.
Would I be able to swap just the disks?

It was raining so I only did it quickly but it looked to be about 4mm.

The discs are different and not interchangeable.

change the final drive so you can put the RT wheel on
but then man at garage might look at you sideways, as same front wheel and different wheel.......
