My rear disc on GFM is 1mm under the service limit :?
Motobins are out of stock and reckon 5 weeks till delivery. We're off to Spain in 3. Motorworks just play muzak and are probably just as well stocked (not).
Does anyone out there have or know the whereabouts of a serviceable rear disc for a '98 1100 GS?

I'm assuming my not-so-local BWM dealer will want an arm & a leg AND take weeks to source?

Anything actually wrong with the brake other than that, i would just put it on order, and not worry about it, but i hardly use the back brake anyhow, make sure pads have plenty of meat on them, at the end of the day, its your decision though :nenau

Ian, if you can't source a replacement disc before you go, just bung in a new set of pads... it'll be fine.

If you run a disc that is under the servicable limit and pads that are low, you run the risk of popping the pistons out... as yours is only 1mm under you'll be ok with new pads for your trip.

Yep,thats about the length of it,not the end of the world.

Try asking Mbw how much a new disc is,I bought a new set of fronts, and was quite supprised at how much they were, better than all the replacement parts, and have a two year warranty.

Have you tried Steptoe?

Eyup Cogs me old mate.
I don't believe the disk is horrendously expensive from a dealer, as in comparison with a new pattern part.

Have a great holiday.

Sorted

Thanks to everyone for their advice.
I finally relented and rang my local dealer who not only matched Sherwoods on price, but also knocked off a tenner on mention of GSClubUK membership.

Which was nice :)

The dealer BTW is Pidcocks of Longeato, Leics.

Sorry, I did of course mean Sherlocks, not Sherwoods ;)
