I think my rear disc may be warped. When spinning the rear wheel it runs freely and then sticks quite badly, requiring force to shift it past the sticky part. Only explanation I can think of is a wared disc - any other ideas?

Also, if it is a warped disc, I am now 5 days out of warranty - do you think there is any chance BMW will pay for it.

Incidently, I fitted EBC brake pads not that long ago - could they have caused the damage?

Mine has always done exactly what you describe - in fact my previous 1150 and two 1100s did it a bit as well - though I noticed that the problem all but went away when the bike was hot so I figured that it was in the bevel box. It never caused a problem.

You could always carefully lever the brake pistons back a bit and see if it still does it - that way you will know for sure if it is the brake

Thanks Jon. I think they may be a bit manky too although I cleaned them up recently.

Panic over!!

Motorrad Central

Motorrad Central at Bishopbriggs have a rolling road thingy and the lads there have helped me out with disc problems a couple of times.

I think I've had similar on most bikes I've owned but definitely on both beemers. Might be sensible to take the calliper off and give it a good clean, but I really wouldn't worry about it.

As long as the disc isn't red hot when you stop after a ride, I'd forget about it.
