This morning I noticed right away something was up with the bike. Couldn't put my finger on it. After a few minutes out on the road I narrowed it down to the rear shock. By the time I got home it is clear the damping has gone... Nice and bouncy on the spring, but no damping.

It's the original shock with a hyperpro spring. MCT serviced the unit about 3 years ago.

My plan is to get it back to MCT for a fix/refurbishment as I'm off in a couple of weeks.

It's weird the damping suddenly went like this. Presumably am O-ring or similar has failed? Anyone else had this? How often can you service these units? I don't really want to fork out for a new one!

Cheers

Are you stuck for a rear Adv shock?

Have one hear if you want to borrow it until sorted

Stu. That's incredibly generous. I'm going to call MCT on Monday morning (I'll take the shock off tomorrow morning, after I've done the valves, balance etc.). From there I might have an idea for a plan

Oh, mines an ADV. Yours too?

Yes mate Adv.

It's sat in the shed, so more than welcome and only just up the A1 J4

This happened to me on my 1150 Adventure as well. Also went really suddenly, pretty much one day was fine, the next bouncing around with absolutely no damping. I use mine to get to and from work, so I had a week of very bouncy commuting 70 miles a day until my replacment unit turned up.

Interesting. Thanks.

My hope is it can be rebuilt. Can't see why not, but I'll find out on Monday.

Spoke to MTCO. Shock is now wen route to Suffolk. They seemed quite relaxed about rebuilding and getting it working. So if all goes well, I'll have back this time next week, fixed.

Stu.if it takes longer than that, I'll be in touch . Cheers
