My mate has a 1100 S Sport. We were giving the bike a going over yesterday afternoon and noticed that the rear shock absorber had virtually no damping, after messing with the damping adjuster its obvious that the shock has expired. The bikes only done 9k and isn't even 2 years old yet so to say he's miffed is an understatement. Does anybody know if shocks are covered under the 2 year warranty? The front forks have started to bubble as well, which is a bit dissapointing because he's not ridden the bike through the winter and it has been very well looked after.

I'm pretty sure shocks are covered.

Mileages for BM shocks seems to vary wildly. I had a s/hand pair of sport shocks on my S that failed at around the 20k mark but there are plenty of people who have managed more.

Fortunately for me I was just fitting the ohlins when I noticed the weeping damping fluid from the BM rear so the timing couldn't have been better.

Best option would be to see if he can persuade the dealer to chip in towards an ohlins instead of another BM shock.

Pidcocks came up trumps today and replaced my mates 1100S shock within half an hour of telling them of the problem. Top service :thumb
