Finances wont stretch to Wilbers or Ohlins so does anyone have experience of Hagon shocks :nenau

What do you want, functionality wise, in your new shock?

If you're after remote pre-load etc then the cost mounts appreciably.

Remote preload isnt vital. Most of the time I'm solo with not much luggage (apart from once a year euro trip). And I dont venture off road.
Dunno if thats the sort of info you meant.

Then I think Hagon are the best bet. I've heard nothing bad about them and their customer support is friendly and efficient.

Hi Blair,

I have used Hagon rear shocks on two Airheads and they have been OK. I haven't used either of the others so can't compare. I still have the BMW standard shocks on the 1150GSA.

I did split a Hagon top mount but that was probably my fault by loading it when removing the rear swivel bearing on the 100GS.

Dealings with Hagon have always been fine, plus you see them at the big shows if you want to natter and look at alternative shocks.

See you at the 'pre '65' at Kinlochleven ?

Bob.

Hagon shocks are usually a little on the "hard" side.

I have just ordered front & rear shocks for mine, ended up getting Wilbers... they are built individually for each rider (weight, riding style, pillion pax, luggage, etc).
The quote from Hagon for a front shock built to a similar standard (the prices most quote are for std build shocks) was only £30 cheaper.... So that works out as £10 a year for the extra 3 year warranty Wilbers give(Hagon 2 yrs, wilbers 5 yrs)

Thanks for the replies.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that come to?

Motorworks list a rear Hagon without remote preload for £248 inc vat.

I hope so. Also got friday 9th off and hope to follow the trial round by Glenfinnan and Strontian :thumb

Was the price Hagon gave you for a custom built shock or a std one? I didn't get a quote from them for a custom built rear shock but here the one for a custom built front>
Quote from Hagon for custom front shock:

"custom build for heavy rider & pillion, Light solo only, harder and softer springs. £295.00 including vat."

Quote from http://www.everyaccessory.co.uk/wilbers.php

(they will give you 10% discount for being a "Tosser" ) :D

"The basic Rear shock with manual spring pre-load and 22 click rebound adjustment is £325.
The hydraulic preload option is £140 extra."

less 10% "Tosser" discount makes it £329?

:)

I got F&R Wilbers from every accessory last year and they are wonderful (shocks that is....)

Highly recommend. That's a good point about the added 3years warranty too.

I managed to get a basic WP rear shock. I'm sure it's on the right way, but changing the manual preload is going to require me to unbolt from the top:( I may have to disassemble and up-end.
