Hi all,

Before I start, I know I am a complete numpty at all things mechanical, so if you want to take the P**s please feel free.

I have just taken the rear wheel off the 1200 to get a new tyre on it.

Checked the manual for the torque settings to put it back on, 60 Nm Ok I just wondered I have spoked wheels on my GS, so is it the same settings or is it different.

Many Thanks in Advance

I have just checked in the owners manual for my 09 1200 GSA, which also has spoked wheels, and it says 60 Nm "Tighten in diagonally opposite sequence"

Hope this helps

..."Tighten in diagonally opposite sequence"...

That's a bit tricky on a 5 bolt hub. I do every other bolt - first to 40nm then go around again to 60nm.

FWIW - there's a thread (sorry) on ADVRider on the perils of greasing the bolts and then tightening them to 60mn. It's not pretty

Guess it should have said to tighten like you're drawing a star. Same thing, but sounds prettier.

I think the shape to which you're referring is more properly called a pentangle. :D

However, I do mine up exactly the same way - every other bolt, round once first a bit tight, then nearly tight enough, then finally to 60Nm.
