Recall Notice on RS

Just received a recall notice for my R1200RS (2018). They state that due to corrosion the securing the clip for the footrest pin may become damaged and lost so should be replaced by contacting a Motorrad dealer. I'm guessing this applies to all but the most recent models?

All BMW models apparently. Rather like Harley Davidsons' clips, these appear to be made from cheese.

Even the very old ones? Or just current series.
Had to replace the clip on my (nowadays ancient) 2007 bike.

Not that I want BMW to fix it of course... but I just have to find the right ones to buy... the one I installed at the time does not fit 100% right

It'd cost me more in petrol and running costs to visit Motorrad to have them replaced than its worth but if they rust I have a stack of circlips so will replace them myself. Mine look ok.

They replace these things FoC to save the dealers the embarrassment of charging 16.95 apiece.

They did mine at my 600 mile service a couple of months ago.

I got the recall letter a few days ago.

Got one for my 2020 GS yesterday, they'll probably but a big bin full of them by the coffee machine next to the biscuits with a help yourself notice on it......

I think it's just the later 1200's and 1250's affected?

I’ve received the letter. Although a VIN check had already told me my 2015 bike was due two numbered “checks”, my letter only said the circlips need replacing.

I’ll not be rushing to a dealer, not because the bike’s on SORN, but because my rear pegs live in a box on a shelf and my rider pegs are still in A1 condition.

I wonder what the new circlips look like. Anyone seen one?

I got the letter yesterday for my 1250GS but the dealer can do that after they've carted it away in their van

RS now? The list is growing! I had the letter for my GS last week & I gather R18 owners are getting the letters now. I’ll await mine for my R18.
Checked my GS & the circlips look ok.

Got 2 letters yesterday. One for my current bike and one for my previous RS which is still for sale at the Superbike Warehouse.

Just replacing the circlips. Seem to remember they fitted a new circlip on the old bike at the last service because it was missing.

Got 4 free from my dealer. They look like circlips

Checked mine and they were 100% fine. No rust, so not bothering with the recall work.
