Some R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure with ESA are recalled.

Front shock will be replaced because Oil may leak

Possibly it's only the Adventure and early production date. At this time I don't know exactly but keep you informed.

Actually it's a campaign not a recall and has been running for the last 3 months with the work being carried out on bikes involved when in for service. :augie

Mine's on the list to be done:thumb

ESA is so good I can't tell if it's working or not:confused:

Leaking oil and no recall. Just a campaign. That's what you say.

Any idea which ESA-bikes are affected? Production dates?

Any recall would be logged with VOSA and the owners of the vehicles involved would be contacted by dealers, you stated in your post yesterday "Some R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure with ESA are recalled" which can only cause confusion paticularly as the campaign has been running since June IIRC.

... as the campaign has been running since June IIRC.

Since June? And you didn't post the quality problems with ESA-bikes here?

I do know since 08/26/2008 that shocks on ESA-bikes are recalled, because dealers called their customers.

Perhaps because Thunder didn't feel the need to start foaming at the mouth and likening BMW to the spawn of Satan regarding 'quality problems'?

Let's face it, raisin' an internet forum lynchin' party will never achieve anything apart from making the participants look like crazed zealots. If your hope is to shame BMW into doing something about whatever 'problems' you perceive, it just ain't going to happen. I've seen just the same in digital photography - the manufacturers will laugh their heads off until people stop buying their products - then they might take some notice... Trouble is, from what I read, people aren't deserting BMW in their masses are they?

'quality problems'?

But there are massive quality problems with BMW motorcycles. Even MCN is writing about the massive quality problems. I didn't think of MCN when it comes to care for customers.

You are 100% right.

Trouble is, from what I read, people aren't deserting BMW in their masses are they?

You are 100% right. But you did forget the conclusion, I guess.

It's already been mentioned on the site so why would I duplicate it?

My reason for replying to yur post is you have stated there is a recall on some bikes with ESA, this is not the case as a recall is only issued on items which need immidiate attention and as previously mentioned will be listed on the Vosa website.

Stating a recall applies can only cause concern to owners hence my post.

Looking at the posts you've started on the site it seems like your only contribution involves recalls, perhaps you should get your facts right in the future.

I'll have (and have had) a pop at BMW with the best of them but incorrect information is not helpful!

Selective quoting is great isn't it?...

Try this version:

You say campaign. I said recall. Whatever!

The issue are 'quality problems' with 2008 ESA-GS bikes. And the owners have to visit their dealers (again). Do your math: How often do BMW owners have to visit their dealers?

:augie

Mine was done with the 6K service. No extra visits for me. Very pleased with the service I have received from BMW to date. :thumb2
