Anybody had a recall notice to have the ignition changed on there GS or GSA. Got a letter through the door yesterday to say that there is an ariel on the ignition that has had faults. Bike might not start. Phoned Southport and got mine booked in next Friday!!!!!!!!

Very well documented problem. Do a search under 'ring antenna' and all shall become apparent. A faulty batch have been causing some grief.

Oh and did someone pee the bed this morning? Or are you on the night shift???:augie

Very interesting article. At least there doing something about it.
Wonder if you can claim expences for having to take your bike back when it's bmw error and traveling a round trip for me of 60 miles. :blast
Unlucky for me yes I was on nights!

They should have fixed it four years ago....along a few other things. OH and i love my 1200....

I got mine changed after reading the threads on here.

The guy at the garage said it wasn't being classed as a recall, it was just a campaign - therefore i received no letter.:nenau

Thank god i fountd this forum:thumb

As previously said I did'nt get notification but from reading about it on here, checked with dealer and had it done on 12,000 service a couple of weeks ago

Three faults on mine

I had a letter yesterday from Williams in manchester about possible problems with my 57 plated gs. Turns out I have three "recalls" on mine. EWS, ECM reprogram and front brake lines to be replaced. Ive not had a problem with any of them but its booked in to get the work done.

You can tell if its been "upgraded" as the replacement/new units have ignition enbossed around the top of the housing.
