First time contributor but a biker for over 30 years. I've owned an 800GS since July last year, took it to Misano, Italy from Ireland just after it's first service and the headlamp bolts went adrift - confidence inspiring.
Today, 12/5/09, I noticed my trousers were wet, it wasn't raining and I'm not incontinent but the bike was - anti-freeze everywhere. Lucky I was at home and not riding at speed.
Spoke to Graham at BMW Customer Service who informed me that the problem was the subject of a recall to dealers for rectification along with other faults:-
0000270900 Threaded fasteners for sprocket carriers
0013170000 BMS-KP Engine cutout update
0061290000 Routing of cable for front ABS speed sensor
0017010000 Replacement cooling hoses
Don't rely on BMW be proactive before disaster strikes. KTMs have never looked so good
